Turning a Challenge Into an Idea
The idea for PayEdge Academy grew from a challenge I experienced personally. After earning my Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation, I began the ongoing process of maintaining my certification and earning Recertification Credit Hours (RCHs).
As I searched for continuing education, I realized how difficult it could be to find training that was affordable, flexible, and focused on the practical work payroll professionals actually do every day. There were valuable learning opportunities available, but I kept coming back to the same thought: there should be another option.
That experience sparked an idea and eventually a journey: what if we could create a place where payroll professionals at every level could access practical education, earn continuing education credits, connect with one another, and continue growing without professional development feeling out of reach? That idea became PayrollEdge Learning Academy LLC — PayEdge Academy.
Why PayEdge Exists
PayEdge Academy was created to give payroll professionals a place to learn, connect, share experiences, and grow together through education designed around the realities of the payroll profession.

FOUNDER
Founder, PayEdge Academy
Hi, I'm Andrew Berding.
I'm the founder of PayrollEdge Learning Academy LLC (PayEdge Academy). I've spent more than 18 years working in payroll, growing from early roles as a payroll analyst to payroll leadership.
Throughout my career, I've worked in fast-paced payroll environments across the manufacturing and transportation industries, experiencing firsthand the responsibility that comes with making sure employees are paid accurately, compliantly, and on time.

Experience
My Payroll Journey
In 2017, I earned my Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) designation, strengthening both my technical knowledge and my appreciation for just how complex payroll can be.
From learning new systems and navigating multistate rules to adapting to changing regulations and solving unexpected payroll problems, I've seen the pressure payroll professionals carry and how often they're expected to simply figure it out.

Education
Why Teaching Matters to Me
Teaching has become one of the most rewarding parts of the payroll profession for me. I volunteer with my local payroll chapter in Cincinnati, Ohio, where my own involvement began with a CPP study group and grew into opportunities to teach, speak, and help facilitate payroll discussions.
Those experiences reinforced something I strongly believe: payroll professionals have an incredible amount of knowledge to share. Sometimes the most valuable learning happens when we bring people together, talk about the challenges we're facing, and learn from how others have approached them.

Through PayEdge Academy, my goal is to build the kind of learning environment I wanted to find as a payroll professional one that supports people throughout their payroll journey.

Beyond Payroll
I live in Cincinnati, Ohio, with my wife and our three children. Outside of payroll and teaching, I enjoy coaching my kids, staying active, and cheering on Cincinnati sports. I also enjoy volunteering with the local payroll community, meeting new people at conferences and seminars, and continuing to grow as both a payroll professional and an educator.

What started as a search for better continuing education has grown into a commitment to help payroll professionals learn, connect, share, and progress together.
